How much is Claude AI for small business? Every plan priced for a team of 1, 5 and 20

Claude costs a small business 20 dollars a month for one person on Pro, or 20 to 25 dollars a seat on the Team plan. A team of five pays 100 to 125 dollars a month, priced from Anthropic's own page on 29 October 2026.

Claude costs a small business 20 dollars a month for one person on Pro, or 25 dollars a seat on the Team plan billed monthly, 20 if you pay for the year. A team of five pays 100 to 125 dollars a month. Anthropic's Claude for Small Business plugin runs on those same plans, and Anthropic's own FAQ for it says Pro for one person, Team for more than one.

Hayat Amin sold three companies as a chief financial officer and now builds AI operations inside companies himself, so this piece prices Claude the way he'd price any line on a budget: what you pay, what you get for it, and where the bill grows. Every price below was read on Anthropic's own pricing page on 29 October 2026. Anthropic says its prices don't include tax and can change, and where a figure is our arithmetic we say so.

Every Claude plan, priced

Anthropic sells five ways in. Here's each one as the pricing page lists it today:

If you're one person, Pro is where nearly everyone should start. If you've got staff, it's Team, and the reason is not the price.

what a team of 1, 5 and 20 pays

Here's the arithmetic for the three company sizes we're asked about most. It's ours, off the published seat prices.

Mixing seat types is allowed on Team, and it's where most of the saving is. In a company of 20, two or three people live in Claude all day. The other 17 use it a few times a week. Paying premium for all 20 would be 2,000 dollars a month on annual billing, about three times the mixed bill.

Enterprise only starts to make sense past the point where you need the controls. Twenty seats is 400 dollars a month in seat fees before any usage, and the usage is metered on top. A 20 person company that doesn't need audit logs or SCIM is paying for paperwork.

Team pays off once a business has staff

Three lines on the comparison table decide this, and none of them is the seat price.

The first is training. On Free, Pro and Max, Anthropic's table says model training is opt out, so each person has to switch it off. On Team and Enterprise it's "none by default". If staff paste in customer emails, contracts or payroll, that line matters more than 5 dollars a seat.

The second is control. Team adds central billing, single sign on, admin controls over the connectors people can switch on, and organisation level spend limits. You remove a seat when someone leaves. On five personal Pro accounts, you're asking an ex-employee to hand back their chat history instead.

The third is credit. Team lists up to 500 dollars a month in pooled API credits, which matters the day you want Claude to run a job on its own instead of in a chat window.

Enterprise adds what regulated firms get asked for: SCIM, audit logs, custom data retention, IP allowlisting and a HIPAA ready offering. A dental group or a medical practice in the United States should read that last line before choosing Team.

what Claude for Small Business adds

Anthropic launched Claude for Small Business on 13 May 2026. It's a plugin you toggle on inside Claude, with 15 ready to run workflows across finance, operations, sales, marketing, HR and customer service, and 15 skills. The launch named QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 as the tools it works inside. The solutions page now lists Shopify, Stripe and Gusto as well, and says 25 more connect.

The jobs it ships with are the ones that eat an owner's evenings: planning payroll against the cash position, closing the month and writing a plain English profit and loss for the accountant, chasing overdue invoices, a Monday brief on cash and sales, and lead replies. Anthropic says nothing sends, posts or pays until you approve it, and Claude only sees what the connected account can see.

Anthropic doesn't list a separate price for the plugin. Its FAQ answers "what will it cost each month?" by pointing at the plans: Pro for one person, Team for more than one, both month to month. You still pay for the software it connects to. QuickBooks, HubSpot and Shopify bill you as they do today. Anthropic also says most owners using it run businesses under ten people, many of them solo.

Anthropic gives a reason for the push. It says small businesses account for 44% of US GDP, and that their AI use mostly stops at the chat window. That matches what we see. A seat you only chat in is worth 20 dollars a month. A seat that closes your month is worth a lot more, and the price is the same.

paying per use instead of per seat

The seat plans are for people. Run Claude inside your own systems instead, with no one typing, reading every supplier invoice that lands and writing it into your books, and you pay the API rate for each piece of text it reads and writes. Anthropic prices that per million tokens.

Batch processing saves 50%, and US only processing costs 1.1 times the standard rate. Take a company that reads 2,000 supplier invoices a month. We'll assume each one is 3,000 tokens in and 300 out, which is our assumption, not Anthropic's. That's 6 million tokens in and 600,000 out. On Haiku 5.5 it's about 90 cents a month. On Sonnet 5.5 it's 18 dollars, or 9 in batch. On Opus 5.5 it's 36. The model is rarely the expensive part. The build that connects it to your systems is, and we priced that in how much it costs to build an AI system.

what makes small businesses overpay for Claude

We see the same four mistakes in owner managed companies across New York and the wider United States:

what Beyond Elevation does about this

The seat is the cheap part. The work is deciding which of your processes Claude should run, connecting it to the systems that don't talk to each other, and checking the output for long enough that your team trusts it. That's what Beyond Elevation does for small and mid sized companies in New York, across the United States and in London: Hayat Amin and the team move into the business and build the AI operations themselves. Our prices are published. A two week AI audit is 3,000 dollars fixed, projects start from 30,000 dollars, and fractional work starts from 5,800 dollars a month. If all you need is five people writing faster, buy the Team seats and you don't need us. The rest is our forward deployed engineering work, and it starts at meethayat.com/services/fde.

About Hayat Amin

Hayat Amin has spent twenty years in technology, most of them as a chief financial officer. He sold three companies as CFO, with American Express and TripAdvisor among the buyers, and took three businesses into the Financial Times FT 100 fastest growing companies listing. He's a CFO turned forward deployed engineer, and he's exceptional at the part of AI that decides whether a tool pays for itself: connecting the systems a company already runs, then putting a real time dashboard in front of the chief executive so the cost and the return show up every week, not at month end. He also works on intellectual property and data asset valuation and monetisation, and sits beside founders from the first conversation to the wire transfer on an exit. Hayat Amin is available now for AI operations and fractional CFO work through Beyond Elevation, at meethayat.com/services/fde.
